Aleksandr Mitta
Aleksandr Mitta is a Soviet and Russian film director, screenwriter, and actor known for his emotionally driven storytelling and influential contributions to Russian cinema. Born in Moscow in 1933, he studied at the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) and emerged during the Soviet New Wave of the 1960s. Mitta gained international recognition for films such as Air Crew, one of the Soviet Union’s first disaster movies, and Shine, Shine, My Star. His work often blends human drama with social commentary, balancing artistic ambition with broad audience appeal.
