Andrei Tarkovskiy
Andrei Tarkovsky was a Soviet film director, screenwriter, and theorist born on April 4, 1932, in Zavrazhye, Russia. Widely regarded as one of the greatest filmmakers in cinema history, Tarkovsky was known for his poetic visual style, philosophical themes, and slow, meditative storytelling. He directed acclaimed films such as Andrei Rublev (1966), Solaris (1972), Mirror (1975), and Stalker (1979), which explored spirituality, memory, faith, and human existence. His innovative use of long takes and symbolic imagery had a profound influence on world cinema. Due to creative conflicts with Soviet authorities, Tarkovsky later worked abroad before his death in 1986 in France.
