Andrzej Munk

Andrzej Munk was a Polish film director and screenwriter born on October 16, 1921, in Kraków, Poland. He was one of the leading figures of the Polish Film School movement, known for his intelligent, ironic, and often critical approach to war and postwar society. Munk gained recognition with films such as Eroica (1958), Bad Luck (1960), and Passenger (1963), the latter completed after his death and regarded as one of the most important Polish films of the era. His work combined realism with satire and psychological depth, offering a unique perspective on history and human behavior. Andrzej Munk died in a car accident in 1961 at the age of 39, leaving behind a highly influential but relatively small body of work.
