Antal Nimród
Nimród Antal (born 1973) is a Hungarian-American filmmaker whose career bridges Budapest and Hollywood. Born in Los Angeles to Hungarian parents, he moved to Hungary in 1991 to study at the Hungarian Film Academy, and he made his feature debut there with Kontroll (2003), an inventive thriller set entirely in the Budapest Metro that won the Award of the Youth at Cannes, took the main prize at the Chicago International Film Festival, and was Hungary's submission for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. After returning to the United States, he directed the studio thriller Vacancy (2007), the science-fiction sequel Predators (2010), the Metallica concert film Metallica: Through the Never (2013), and the Liam Neeson thriller Retribution (2023). His television work includes episodes of Wayward Pines, Servant, and the fourth season of Stranger Things.
