Anton Corbijn
Anton Corbijn (born 1955) is a Dutch photographer, music video director, and filmmaker who became the principal visual collaborator for some of rock's biggest acts before turning to feature films. Born in Strijen to a Dutch Reformed parson, he began photographing musicians in 1975 and from the late 1970s became a regular contributor to the British music weekly NME. He has shaped the visual identity of Depeche Mode and U2 across three decades and directed iconic music videos including Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence," U2's "One," Nirvana's "Heart-Shaped Box," and Coldplay's "Viva la Vida." His debut feature Control (2007), a black-and-white portrait of Joy Division singer Ian Curtis, premiered at Cannes and won the CICAE Art and Essai prize. He has since directed The American, A Most Wanted Man, and Life, about photographer Dennis Stock and James Dean.
