Attila Janisch
Attila Janisch (born 1957) is a Hungarian filmmaker whose deliberately paced, narratively oblique features have made him a distinctive voice in post-1989 Hungarian cinema. Born in Kecskemét, he graduated from the Hungarian Academy of Performing Arts in 1984 as a student of Zoltán Fábri and won prizes at international short-film festivals with his thesis works. His feature debut Shadow on the Snow (1991) was followed by Long Twilight (1997) and Másnap (After the Day Before, 2004) — the latter taking the Main Prize at the 35th Hungarian Film Week. He also directs television and documentaries, including a film about choreographer Yvette Bozsik, and received Hungary's Béla Balázs Award in 1997 for his contribution to film.
