Boo Junfeng
Boo Junfeng (born 1983) is a Singaporean filmmaker whose feature work has made him one of the country's leading new directors. A graduate of Ngee Ann Polytechnic's School of Film and Media Studies and LASALLE College of the Arts, where he was awarded the McNally Award for Excellence in the Arts. His debut feature Sandcastle (2010) was the first Singaporean film selected for Cannes' Critics' Week, was named by The Wall Street Journal as one of Asia's most notable films of the year, and played at Toronto, Busan, Vancouver, and London. His second feature Apprentice (2016) — a quiet psychological drama about a young Malay correctional officer in Singapore's top prison who befriends the chief executioner — premiered in Cannes' Un Certain Regard and was Singapore's submission for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. He has also served as creative director of the Singapore National Day Parade.
