Jacqueline Frazier

Jacqueline Frazier is an African American filmmaker, screenwriter, producer, editor, and sound engineer whose work emerged from the influential L.A. Rebellion film movement at UCLA. Born and raised in San Francisco, Frazier developed a passion for storytelling at an early age, creating stories for her younger sister. She later pursued that passion through writing, film making, and television. Frazier earned two bachelor’s degrees—one in Theater Arts and another in Comparative Cultures—from the University of California, Irvine, and went on to receive an MFA in Film and Television Production from UCLA in 1981. During her time at UCLA, she created several films that explored race, gender, identity, and social issues affecting Black communities.
