William Klein
William Klein was an American-French photographer, filmmaker, and visual artist born on April 19, 1926, in New York City. He became internationally renowned for his bold, unconventional street photography, characterized by dynamic composition, motion blur, and raw urban energy. He was ranked 25th on Professional Photographer's list of 100 most influential photographers. Klein also directed influential documentaries and satirical feature films, including Who Are You, Polly Maggoo? (1966) and films about figures such as Muhammad Ali. Much of his career was spent in Paris. His films were sometimes openly critical of American society and foreign policy; one film critic wrote that Mr. Freedom was "conceivably the most anti-American movie ever made."
