The Exterminating Angels
About
The film follows François, a filmmaker who decides to create an experimental movie exploring female sexuality, desire, and the psychological effects of forbidden experiences. During the casting process, François interviews several aspiring actresses and invites them to participate in intimate screen tests for his project. As the filming progresses, the boundaries between artistic exploration, personal desire, and manipulation become increasingly blurred. The film explores the relationship between sexuality, power, obsession, morality, and the responsibilities of an artist toward the people involved in a creative project. The story has autobiographical dimensions, reflecting controversies surrounding Brisseau's filmmaking practices and the harassment case involving actresses who auditioned for one of his earlier films.
