Achero Mañas

Born in Madrid in 1966, Achero Mañas is a Spanish film director, screenwriter, and former actor. He initially followed in the footsteps of his mother, actress Paloma Lorena (who appeared in two of his films), but soon transitioned from acting to directing. He’s known for his socially conscious and emotionally driven films. Mañas gained critical acclaim with his debut feature, Pellet, followed by the award-winning Walking Vengeance, which explores themes of youth, violence, and social alienation. His work is characterized by strong character focus, naturalistic performances, and a concern for moral and psychological conflict.
