Agnieszka Holland
Agnieszka Holland is a Polish film and television director and screenwriter known for her politically engaged and psychologically complex storytelling. Born in Warsaw in 1948, she studied filmmaking at the Prague Film School (FAMU) and began her career working in Czechoslovak cinema before establishing herself internationally.Holland gained recognition with films such as Europa Europa, which earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay, and later works including In Darkness, which was also nominated for an Academy Award. Her films and television projects often explore themes of history, moral ambiguity, and resistance under oppressive regimes, making her one of the most prominent European directors.
