Alex Cox
Alex Cox is an English film director, screenwriter, and author best known for his rebellious, politically charged independent films. Born in 1954 in Liverpool, he emerged as a key figure in the 1980s punk and alternative cinema scene. Cox gained cult status with films such as Repo Man and Sid and Nancy, a portrayal of punk musician Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen. His work often combines satire, countercultural themes, and unconventional storytelling, while exploring politics, music, and outsider characters. In addition to filmmaking, Cox has written extensively about cinema and became known to wider audiences as the host of the influential BBC film program Moviedrome.
