André de Toth
André de Toth was a Hungarian-American film director, screenwriter, and producer born on May 15, 1913, in Makó, Hungary. Known for his tough, visually dynamic style, he directed a wide range of films including westerns, film noirs, and adventure movies. De Toth gained recognition for films such as House of Wax (1953), Day of the Outlaw (1959), and Play Dirty (1969). Despite being blind in one eye, he famously directed the 3D film House of Wax, becoming one of Hollywood’s most distinctive genre filmmakers.
