Andrea Staka

Andrea Štaka is a Swiss film director and screenwriter of Croatian-Bosnian origin, born in 1973 in Lucerne, Switzerland. She is known for her intimate, character-driven films that explore identity, memory, migration, and relationships. Štaka gained international recognition with her debut feature Das Fräulein (2006), which won the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival. Her later films, including Cure: The Life of Another (2014) and Mare (2020), continued her exploration of personal and cultural displacement. Andrea Štaka is regarded as an important voice in contemporary European cinema.
