Antonio Campos

Antonio Campos (born 1983) is a Brazilian-American filmmaker known for stark, intimate dramas about people in moral and psychological extremis. Born in New York to a Brazilian journalist father and an American producer mother, he directed his first short at age thirteen and went on to study at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where he co-founded the production company Borderline Films with Sean Durkin and Josh Mond. His debut feature Afterschool (2008) premiered at Cannes' Un Certain Regard, followed by Simon Killer (2012), Christine (2016) — Rebecca Hall's portrayal of news anchor Christine Chubbuck — and the Netflix Appalachian-noir The Devil All the Time (2020) starring Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson. He also directed the pilot of USA's The Sinner and ran HBO Max's The Staircase as showrunner-director.
