Brent Shields

Brent Shields (born 1963) is an American television and film director and producer, best known for his long association with the Hallmark Hall of Fame. Born in Woodland Hills, California, and raised in Huntington Beach, he earned his BS in Telecommunications and Film from San Diego State University in 1987. As a producer he has overseen more than eighty films, including television adaptations of works by William Faulkner (Old Man), Thomas Hardy (Return of the Native), Oscar Wilde (The Canterville Ghost), and contemporary writers including August Wilson, John Grisham, Pat Conroy, and Anne Tyler. He has directed five Hallmark Hall of Fame Productions — Durango (1998), Cupid & Cate, Brush with Fate, The Magic of Ordinary Days (2005), and The Valley of Light — each of which became one of television's top-rated films of its season. He has been a member of the Directors Guild of America since 1998.
