Yojiro Takita
Yojiro Takita is a Japanese film director born on December 4, 1955, in Toyama, Japan. He entered the film industry through Mukai Productions, where he served as an assistant director. He first came to prominence with the long-running, popular light-comic pink film Molester's Train series. Takita is best known for directing Departures (Okuribito, 2008), a moving drama about a traditional funeral preparer that won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Through films that balance humor and sensitivity, Takita has become one of the most respected contemporary directors in Japanese cinema.
