Želimir Žilnik
Želimir Žilnik is a Serbian film director and screenwriter born on September 8, 1942, in Niš, Serbia. He is one of the leading figures of the Yugoslav Black Wave movement, known for politically engaged films that combine documentary realism with social criticism and satire. Žilnik gained international recognition when his film Early Works (1969) won the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. Throughout his career, he has explored themes such as migration, labor, inequality, and political change through both fiction and documentary filmmaking.
