About

Czech director Milos Forman won first prize at the Locarno film festival for his first feature film, Black Peter. Petr, a shy Czech teenager, begins working as a trainee in theft prevention but repeatedly fails to stop suspected shoplifters because of his lack of confidence. At home, his father constantly criticizes him for his indecisiveness, while Petr also struggles with friendships and his feelings for Pavla. After several awkward social encounters and mistakes at work, Petr continues to face pressure from both his family and his employer. The story explores his insecurity, the challenges of growing up, and the expectations placed on young people as they enter adulthood.
