About

Gigante is an intimate drama about loneliness, obsession, and quiet longing from first-time director Adrián Biniez. Jara, an overweight and solitary security guard working the night shift at a supermarket in Montevideo, spends his evenings monitoring surveillance cameras to relieve the boredom of his job. His routine changes when he becomes captivated by Julia, a young cleaning woman who appears on the security monitors during her nightly rounds. As his fascination deepens, Jara begins secretly following her outside of work, observing her daily life from a distance and allowing his quiet obsession to consume him. When layoffs threaten Julia’s job, Jara is forced to confront his feelings and decide whether to finally reach out to her or continue hiding behind silence and surveillance.
