About

Despite her colleagues’ opposition, Anna Bronsky (Nina Hoss), a violin instructor, secures the admission of Alexander (Ilja Monti) into their elite conservatory in Berlin as she firmly believes in his potential. She works with him tirelessly to prepare him for his end-of-year examinations at the expense of her relationship with her son Jonas (Serafin Mishiev), who is also a violin player. The intensity of Anna and Alexander’s training heightens as the examinations draw near, but on the decisive day itself, tragedy strikes. Directed by Ina Weiss.
