Director Daniel Nearing employs experimental filmmaking techniques to adapt author Sherwood Anderson's seminal short story collection Winesburg, Ohio to the screen, replacing the rural, predominately white characters with urban African-Americans from Chicago while telling the tale of an aging author whose memories and dreams merge as he lies dying in his bed.
