About
This documentary commemorates the victims of the 2009 “Gypsy murders” in which 55 Roma/Gypsy individuals were injured and 6 killed by extreme nationalists in Hungary. The film was recorded in Bódvalenke, the Hungarian fresco village where Roma/Gypsy people live among large murals comprising an outdoor gallery of artists with Roma/Gypsy origin. Roma/Gypsy voices were silenced in Europe for 600 years. The film purposefully amplifies their voices as they narrate their everyday lives, leaving the Gypsy narrative style untouched. In this way, the people’s voices give a final touch to the paintings.
