About

Holiday in Britain (Jutalomutazás) is a satirical Hungarian comedy-drama, widely recognized as a seminal work that launched the "documentary-fiction" movement in Hungarian cinema. The film is a satirical look at bureaucracy and social expectations, known as the first full-length feature of the documentary-style "Budapest school" movement using non-professional actors on real locations. Anna Forgó, a local pioneer secretary, needs to find a 13-to-14-year-old child for an expenses-paid trip to England. The child must have excellent grades, come from a blue-collar (physical worker) family, and play a musical instrument. Tibor Balogh is chosen, and his parents initially agree. However, his mother abruptly changes her mind and withdraws her permission. Left in a bind, the organizers are forced to find a replacement and end up sending a young girl who does not fit any of the original requirements.
