About

Pócspetri is a landmark 1982 black-and-white Hungarian documentary film directed by Judit Ember that investigates a 1948 show trial and a village falsely branded by communist authorities. Completed in 1982, banned by the communist regime, and officially premiered on January 26, 1989. On June 3, 1948, local residents in Pócspetri protested the state nationalization of a church school. During the unrest, a police officer died from an accidental gunshot. Authorities framed the peaceful village, leading to a brutal staged trial and the execution of Miklós Királyfalvy. The documentary's explosive findings ultimately helped trigger a legal retrial and partial rehabilitation for the village and its wrongly accused citizens.
